The Uco Valley in Mendoza is one of the heartlands of premium Argentinian Malbec. The altitude here provides access to cooler air which enables the grapes to retain their freshness. This example has typically perfumed aromas of violets and plums, although in the mouth it's a touch rustic in nature, offering flavours of plum, blackberry and menthol with a hint of cherry on the disappointingly brief finish. A refreshing change from the overripe, almost sweet styles of Argentinian Malbec out there. Part of Aldi's core range.
