With its sandy loam soils, Montviel is never going to produce a bold and structured Pomerol, but this gently aromatic wine, with its plum and cherry nose, is well judged. It's sleek and pretty rather than profound, with little tannin or complexity, but it has an appealing luminous quality. Perky and balanced, it's fully ready to drink.
