Grande Alberone, Zinfandel, Puglia, Italy, 2016

Zinfandel is a go-to grape variety for those who find subtlety a bit wishy-washy. This is not shy at all, with gorgeous raspberry and strawberry scents followed by a waft of raisins and vanilla-infused new wood. In the mouth it's big and tight, with sweet cherry and dried red fruit to the fore, and some red apple notes creeping around the tongue. Over 15g/l of residual sugar makes this a textured, ripely flavoured wine.
