Bacchus' spiky nettle and tart gooseberry flavours come through strongly, tempered by the Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc which give soft apple, stone fruit and floral notes. In what was an excellent vintage for English wines, this bone-dry white from Kent's awarded Hush Heath Estate is great value.

Just like the sparkling wine for Tesco, Hush Heath has done another fine job with this still white. Benefitting from the hot 2018 vintage, the blend of Pinot Blanc, Bacchus, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir combines scents of cut grass and summer meadows and flavours of gooseberry and citrus, with rounder flavours of honeydew melon and stone fruits filling out the palate. It has a mouthwatering juiciness on the finish, which might just send you back for another glass.
