History:

Until recently, the property – situated on the limestone plateau north of the town – was known as Guadet Saint-Julien, but the suffix was dropped in 2004 to avoid confusion with the Médoc appellation. The estate has a long history, and was once owned by the noble Guadet family (which has the dubious distinction of losing one of its members to the guillotine in 1794). Current owner Guy Pétrus Lignac is decended from the same family that purchased the Château in the mid-1800s.
