Cinque Terre hotels

La Torretta, Manarola
Ten stylish Mediterranean and oriental rooms, each with a fabulous view and a different layout due to the original tower-house architecture. Guests can use the panoramic terraces and open-air jacuzzi.

Porto Roca, Monterosso
Most of the rooms at this peaceful bougainvillea-clad villa have antiques from the owner’s collection and sea views. Facilities include a restaurant and a wonderful seawater infinity pool.

Buranco, Monterosso
This wine estate also makes olive oil and limoncino and is open daily for tastings. Accommodation is in three apartments with fully equipped kitchens, and breakfast is on an appealing wood and stone veranda overlooking the vines.

Edi, Riomaggiore
Much Cinque Terre accommodation is in self-catering apartments such as these around Riomaggiore. Most have terraces; and La Conchiglia, over the marina, even has a garden.

Cinque Terre restaurants

Trattoria dal Billy, Manarola
Chef Enrico Andreoli’s mixed seafood starter consists of 12 dishes and pasta is made to order from a ball of fresh dough at this delightful, unpretentious restaurant. Vegetarian options include pasta scarpara with pesto and tomato.

Trattoria dal Billy

A Cantina de Mananan, Corniglia
An excellent eatery in former castle stables. As a member of Slow Food, the accent is on high-quality traditional ingredients, with dishes such as Ligurian rabbit with pine-nuts and gnocchi in walnut sauce. +39 0187 821166

Ristorante Miky, Monterosso
The Defina family runs this classy restaurant opposite Fegina bay. The seafood-based menu includes Monterosso anchovies that have been salted, marinated and stuffed, and fresh fish baked in a wood-fired oven.

Dau Cila, Riomaggiore
The pesto and potato gnocchi are both homemade here by chef Luca Giaccio, as are the seafood ravioli. A rustic yet refined restaurant and wine cellar, located right beside the sea.

Cinque Terre shops

Enoteca Internazionale, Monterosso
Run by two sisters, both of whom are sommeliers, this wine bar has recently started specialising in natural and biodynamic wines. Come any time for a bite to eat and a tasting or to buy products such as olive oil, honey and limoncino, as well as wine.

Cantina Cinque Terre, Groppo
The local cooperative works assiduously to assist its 200 members and the independent wineries. The on-site shop, which is a short bus-ride or 40 minute walk from Manarola, sells the cantina’s full range of wines and other specialities; tastings and tours of the winery and vineyards are available.
