Decanter is delighted to invite you on a luxury weekend, from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th October 2012, offering you the rare opportunity to visit two of Italy’s greatest wineries - Gaja and Aldo Conterno on private visits.
The weekend will commence on Friday with a visit to boutique Barolo producer Vajra. A special lunch, (with the possibility of truffle hunting) will be followed by a tour of the Vajra winery. Dinner that evening will be in La Morra, with beautiful views overlooking the Langhe and Barolo.
On Saturday the real excitement begins as iconic winery Gaja opens its doors for Decanter. This renowned establishment is notoriously private and access is rare. Not only will Decanter readers on this trip be treated to a tour of the vineyards, there will also be a private tasting, followed by a bespoke lunch hosted by Angelo Gaja himself – one of the world’s most famous wine producers and personalities.
To top off this magical day, you will also visit Italy’s premier producer Aldo Conterno for a tour and private tasting hosted by family member and Co-Owner Giacomo Conterno.
On Sunday there will be a chance to discover an award-winning family producer of Barolo – Massolino, as this exceptional weekend rounds off with another private tasting and lunch at the hotel.
You will be escorted throughout the weekend by Decanter and Italian specialist Peter McCombie MW, who will be on hand to share his expertise.
Tickets are £1700 per person and early booking is essential. Tickets are strictly limited (maximum number of 12). Single person supplement of £250. Flights not included.
