Sarah Jane Evans MW's top Austrian DAC wines
Kamptal DAC (3802ha) Grüner Veltliner, Riesling
There are so many renowned producers and single vineyards here they hardly need a DAC to market them. Soils here are mixed, from Loess and gravel to volcanic – most famously Heiligenstein. Powerful Rieslings, rich Grüners. Kamptal DAC Reserve permits subtle botrytis and oak influences. Launched with vintage 2008.
