Finca Sophenia, Synthesis, The Blend 2008

Planted in virgin Uco Valley land in 1998-1999, Sophenia is a blend of the names of Sophia and Eugenia, daughters of the founders, Roberto Luka and Gustavo Benvenuto. The high altitude spot of Gualtallary, Tupungato, was chosen for its terroir at 1,100m of elevation, a cool-climate spot whose warm days and cold nights encourage slow ripening and enhance the aromas and natural acidity of the wine. This particular cuvée (a blend of 70% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot) is intended to synthesise the best parcels of the estate, and is made to last. 18pts/20
