Altocedro, Reserva 2009

Karim Mussi Saffie is the owner and winemaker at up-andcoming Altocedro, which was founded in 1998. The ancient winery, surrounded by 17 cedars in La Consulta in the Uco Valley, was renovated in 2000. There are three vineyards planted to Malbec, covering 25ha of 50- to 70-yearold vines, some on drip, others traditional irrigation. Starting in 2001, the specific aim was to create two styles, one young and fruity, the other (left) a fine 100% vineyard-blend reserva Malbec made for ageing. 17.5pts/20
