Producer Description

Angelo Rocca has 13ha (2ha leased) and makes two contrasting and very good Barbarescos. The richer, more lush but also more structured Brich Ronchi, made in greater quantities, receives the new barrique treatment, while Loreto, aged only in large oak, is a more pure, elegant expression of Nebbiolo. Barbera is also first class here; in the modern barrique-aged mould it shows better depth and balance than most. The white Langhe, La Rocca is a barrique-aged Cortese and is better than most Gavi while a Chardonnay shows the gently spicy ripe fruit characteristic of many Piedmont Chardonnay if not much more.
