Producer Description

Under Giorgio Pelissero, quality at this 20-ha estate has soared dramatically in recent years. At its heart is Vanotu, a vineyard at the intersection of Barbaresco’s three main communes and the source of an increasingly complex and stylish Barbaresco. It spends 18 months in mostly new oak but this is increasingly well-integrated into a rich, ripe fruit core. The regular Barbaresco is attractive with good substance and reasonable depth. There’s plenty of fruit in Dolcetto too, especially Augenta – a vibrant, perfumed and expressive example of the grape. Barbera is ripe and long while Langhe Nebbiolo shows a fine preserved raspberry fruit intensity. Barbera and Nebbiolo are harmoniously combined in ‘Long Now’ – named for the Long Now Foundation clock (www.longnow.org) – a modern, oaky example of this blend. Freisa (a lightly fizzy style), Grignolino and Favorita are also made. Information supplied by Wine Behind the Label
