Producer Description

The name Rabajà, one of Barbaresco’s leading crus, derives from Bruno Rocca’s original family estate and accounts for 5ha of vineyards. From it Bruno Rocca makes an excellent modern interpretation. His Barbaresco Rabajà is ripe, concentrated with impressive breadth as well as a more restrained oak character and better depth over the last decade. A second Barbaresco, called Coparossa and made since 1995, includes grapes from the Fausoni and Pajorè crus and is increasingly good too if not quite at the level of Rabajà. There’s fine quality from both these Barbaresco’s, already anticipated in the more fruit-driven Langhe red Rabajolo (from Cabernet, Barbera and Nebbiolo). Of an expanding estate (now 12ha in total), 3ha in the highly rated Currà cru have recently been added and a third, straight Barbaresco has been produced since 2001. Barbera, Dolcetto and a Chardonnay are also very competently made. Information supplied by Wine Behind the Label
