- Wine region: Bordeaux: Libournais/Saint-Emilion
In 1955 Marcel Dassault fell in love with and bought Château Couperie and gave it his name. This property of 24 hectares is situated 1km north east of Saint- Emilion on a soil of ancient sands generally siliceous, and also silico-clayey.
To improve the quality. the yields have been lowered and have been achieved by severe pruning followed by disbuding. We are looking for ideal maturity. This allows the grapes to express their full fruit, as well as their finesse of the terroir and depth of flavour, when they are macerated. Château Dassault wine is then matured in new oak casks from 14 to 18 months according to the quality of the vintage.
'D of Dassault', the second wine of the Château Dassault, is made with the same precision as the first wine, but with grapes from younger vines. The wine is very fruity but less tannic and can be enjoyed sooner.
