Producer Description

Piero Busso controls 8ha from the heart of the Neive commune and believes in a natural expression of each variety and the importance of place (or tipicità). He has little time for technology but there is some use of barriques. There are now 4 Barbaresco crus following the addition of Gallina in 1999 and San Stefanetto in 2001. All the wines have classic perfumes and structure typical to their variety and add richness and complexity with age. At least 6–8 years’ is needed for the Barbarescos. The Langhe white is a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, the Chardonnay component fermented and aged in barrique; while not special it will keep at least 3–4 years.
