Graves is not known for its sweet wines but this is excellent value, if a little less rich and complex than its neighbours in Sauternes. Sweet nose of dried apricot and citrus. On the palate there is perfect balance between the acidity and the sweetness. Great length. Drink up to 2011. £6.95.

From one of the greatest years for botrytised wines in living memory, this estate wine from just outside Sauternes is probably the best bargain in Bordeaux. Full of ripe, barley-sugar fruit, with floral honeyed ripeness lifted by elegant acidity, it is perfect now and will be for the next 5 years.
