In 1946, the late Jim Barry became the first qualified winemaker to work in Clare Valley. The winery is still family owned, producing strong reds and whites. Its Lodge Hill Riesling boasts a delightful nose, with lovely persistence and depth. The palate cannot quite live up to it, but, nonetheless, this is eminently drinkable %u2013 zesty, grapefruit-tinged, dry, balanced and mineral.
