At around £10 a bottle, this is Matetic's most modestly priced Syrah. It's dark and herby with a roasted nose that shows a slightly tarry aspect. There's a strong peppery attack in the mouth that precedes further dark, liquorice-tinged fruit and a savoury finish. Allurng and weighty stuff. Drink 2009-13. (£9.95-£12.99)
