drinking now, but will age very well
ripe, figgy palate

Marqués de Murrieta's Riojan bodegas still house some 19th-century Ygay vintages. The new generation at Murrieta still produces limited quantities of wine from very old Tempranill
The colour is rich, deep damson, with unmistakable Rioja warmth on the nose and a very ripe, slightly figgy palate, with lowish acidity but firm tannins. Drinkable now, but will benefit from a decade in bottle. May well warrant 5 stars with age.
Big and beefy style with rhubarb and smoky black fruits. High tannin and acid. Great potential.
Smoky aromas with damson and plum undertones. Very bright, plummy flavours, with mellow vanilla and cloves; powerful.
