This wine stood out, among strong competition, at September 2004's almost definitive Rioja tasting. Pure expression from 100% old vine Tempranillo, great depth of low-yield fruit, ripe, smooth, complex, not reliant on oak to impress, a truly grand vin in the modern classic style. Drink 2004-12.
