Gallery: Inside the Champagne Ruinart cellars

Champagne Ruinart has partnered with art fair Frieze and commissioned Erwin Olaf to capture images of Ruinart’s UNESCO World Heritage Site cellars to help mark the occasion. Decanter.com has got its hands on five of the stunning images: see below.

Ruinart said this week that it is to be the exclusive Champagne sponsor for Frieze London, Frieze Masters and Frieze New York.

Frédéric Dufour, president & CEO of Ruinart, said, ‘Maison Ruinart commissioned its first artist, Alphonse Mucha, 120 years ago.

‘Since then has continued to form a close relationship with contemporary art, giving ‘carte blanche’ to renowned artists – the most recent being the famous photographer Erwin Olaf.’

Ruinart currently supports more than 30 art fairs worldwide, and this year commissioned Erwin Olaf to capture images of Ruinart’s UNESCO World Heritage Site-classified cellars, known as ‘Crayères’.

Below is just a small selection of Olaf’s work.
