Bacchus is Oxford University's wine tasting society and is dedicated to educating its members about the appreciation of wine and finding out what you personally like. Open to the public

Bacchus are a non-profit, university wide student society, but also open to interested members of the public.

They hold a tasting every week, half chosen and presented by the committee, half featuring guest experts and producers. No experience is required, and the emphasis is not on blind tasting or training, but on discovering the breadth of varieties, learning about personal taste, and thus inspiring lifelong enthusiasm!

Delhi Wine Club

The club, founded in 2002 to promote wine culture and awareness through education is a premier wine club of India. It has a membership of over 170 carefully selected persons who enjoy wine with the desire to learn. About twenty events are organized yearly.

Traditionally, five different wines are paired with 5-course meals at each dinner. Accent is on different cuisines, wine variety and enjoying wine and learning a little. Cheese and wine evenings and serious wine tastings are organized occasionally. Wine is the only beverage served.

Bin Ends is a fun wine-tasting group, who meet on a monthly basis in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The tasting schedule is varied, and in recent months has included: Bordeaux, South Africa, Italy and Southern France. In addition to monthly tastings the group holds two social events a year - a fine wine dinner in January, and a barbecue in July.

The evenings are presented by the Birmingham Post wine writer Clive Platman, and the cost of entry is set at £10 per head. At present, we have between 15 and 20 regular attendees and new members are always welcome. All that is required is a curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about wine.

The Mercian Wine Circle

The Mercian Wine Circle is a private tasting group, established some 20 years ago, in the Birmingham/West Midlands are, amongst finalists of an annual wine tasting competition held by the Birmingham Post. The chairman (and also founder member) also now happens to be the wine writer for the "Birmingham Post".

The group meets monthly throughout the year in members’ homes, and over the past 12 months, we have excelled ourselves with some stunning tastings put on by our members. THese include Vintage Ports, Sherries, Rose Champagne, 1985 clarets, as well as unusual areas such as Portuguese table wines. The requirement for membership is an enthusiasm for wine and a willingness to attend on a regular basis, as our group is limited to 15 persons at any one evening.

Whilst we are all serious about our wine, there is a wide range of knowledge and tasting abilities, newcomers who share this enthusiasm will always be welcome.

The North Hampshire Wine Society is a friendly and informal group of wine enthusiasts and is based in Basingstoke, Hampshire. We were formed in 1979 and meet in one of the town's oldest buildings on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7.45pm for an 8.00pm start.
