The new deadline has been set to help as many wineries as possible to take part in the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) 2015. The deadline for entries was previously 2 March, said organisers, who last week announced that this year’s competition is being supported by retailer Amazon, which is set to feature winning wines on amazon.co.uk.

Entrants must send four bottles for each wine entry submitted.

Those sending wines locally via consolidated shipping must ensure the wines are with the designated shipper in their region by the end of this week, 6 March.

Those sending wines direct must ensure the wine reaches Decanter’s warehouse in Kent, England, by Friday 20 March 2014, although entry forms must be formally submitted by 6 March.

Wine samples can also be delivered in person at the ProWein trade show in Dusseldorf, Germany, but entrants choosing this option must register in advance online by 6 March.

More than 15,000 wines entered the 2014 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), making it the world’s largest wine competition.

Decanter consultant editor Steven Spurrier chairs the awards, with Gerard Basset OBE MS MW as guest vice-chair.
