Domaine François Carillon, Bourgogne Aligoté 2013
It’s not just Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that can be grown in Burgundy. Lesser-known grape Aligoté produces simple still whites under the Bourgogne Aligoté and Bouzeron-Aligoté appellations, as well as sparkling Crémant de Bourgogne. Fresh apple and lime aromas are joined by creamy notes. On the palate, green apple flavours are accompanied by a vibrant acidity, developing a baked apple character on the finish. Simple and easy drinking like it should be, this is a tonic to the high prices and rich complexity of many Burgundian Chardonnays.
