Concha y Toro

Toby Morhall

Tasting: Maipo Cabernet

Lovely amalgam of cedary fruit and lead pencil oak. Rich, ripe, dense yet finishes fresh.

Peter Richards

Tasting: Maipo Cabernet

Creamy, glossy, instantly appealing – but quite international in style. But also some nice herbal character underlying. Lovely gravelly layers – really serious tannin, well integrated acidity, long and complex. My only concern is the alcohol, which is too high and marked on the finish, giving a bitter/burnt feel to the finish. Very polished, very appealing, very complex. Just too hot to be really drinkable. Shame! (And this problem isn’t solved by chilling, as the 2nd bottle is cellar temp.)

Patricio Tapia

Tasting: Maipo Cabernet

A ripe and voluptuos version of Cabernet, this is grand, filling the palate with it sweet flavours. The body feels ample and big, with enough concentration for 5 or more year in bottle.
