Saint Clair, Founders 78 Series Sauvignon Blanc 2015
This wine was treated slightly unusually for a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc; 2% of the juice was fermented in oak barriques, then the fermented wine spent 12 months on its lees. You would think the result would be quite creamy but in fact it is still fresh and crisp with a lovely cleansing acidity. Gooseberry fruit is accompanied by aromatic pea and asparagus, with a long zesty finish.
