Domaine Latour-Giraud

Stephen Brook

Tasting: Meursault 1er Cru 2010

Robust oaky nose has force and power. Rich and creamy with admirable weight of apricotty fruit, but not at the expense of acidity. There’s spicy oak, considerable minerality, and great drive. Not totally in harmony now but all the elements – fruit, oak, and acidity – are present, and this has great potential. Very good length.

Tasting: Meursault 1er Cru 2010

On the nose the oak is quite dominant but with underlying stone fruits. The palate is intense with spicy, smoky flavours, really good acidity and stony minerality. The wine is very well put together and has a wonderful long, tasty finish.

Tasting: Meursault 1er Cru 2010

Phenolic nose, influenced by oak, but with good citrussy elements. Broad and rich on the palate, but perhaps too broad and too rich, acidity holds it, but does not have the complexity and grip of the Cru.
