Paolo Basso

Tasting: Barolo 2009

Ripe plums, cloves, dried violets, black pepper. Rich, savoury, full bodied with a lot of ripe and well-integrated tannins. Long and expressive finish.

Ian D'Agata

Tasting: Barolo 2009

Pungently floral – lavender, iris, violet – and spicy – cloves, pine needles – but lacks a little fruit on the tannic framework. This strikes me as having a green streak though, as if the polyphenols weren’t all that ripe.

Michael Garner

Tasting: Barolo 2009

Ripe, full and balanced with butterscotch and aniseed. Impressive concentration of ripe black fruit flavours within a firm structure. Good length and persistence with an aromatic finish.
