Re-tasted by Jane Anson now that the wine is in bottle...
In bottle tasting note for Pensées de Lafleur 2014:
Bottled in spring 2016. Beautiful soft violet colour, the aromatics are vibrant, filled with tight red fruits from the first nose. The signature of Lafleur is also here; the body of the wine is not just smooth and supple, but there is edging, depth, a sincere expression of what the vines have lived in this place, a sense of the land combined with the simple but rare ability to leave your mouth watering. Just 2,500 bottles per year, this is around two thirds Merlot and one third Cabernet Franc.
Bordeaux en primeur tasting note:
James Lawther MW
69% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Franc. Seductive but serious. Fine, complex nose and palate. Supple, velvety texture then long, fresh, firm finish. Very pure and precise. Hard to believe it’s a second wine.
