Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru 2014

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-St-Vivant Grand Cru 2014

The Romanée-Saint-Vivant is supremely elegant in 2014, with a detailed and high-toned nose of strawberry, peony, pot pourri and a sweet framing of oak vanillin. On the palate the wine leads with a supple, silky attack of impressive amplitude; but on the mid-palate and finish fine but firm, savoury tannins gently assert themselves, lending a sense of austerity reminiscent of, but more refined than, that found in the Domaine’s Echézeaux. Harvested 21, 22 and 23 September.

Taster: William Kelley

Delicious savoury notes as well as some red fruit and candied citrus peel. An extremely polished texture and a spicy finish. A wine of great class and harmony that is often overlooked because this legendary estate has so many stars in its stable. (96/100pts)

Taster: Gérard Basset OBE MW MS (en primeur)
