These slatey, ocean-influenced vineyards lie 230km from Cape Town at the mouth of the Breede River in very new wine territory - in fact, the Malgas Wine of Origin designation was created especially for Sijnn. Made by De Trafford, a new winery was built on the property in time for this 2015 vinatge. Sijnn – a Khoisan name – is pronounced Seine, but this Chenin is anything but French in style. With 23% Viognier and 3% Roussanne in the mix, this is a lovely fruity character. It is unfiltered and made in an oxidative style from low-yielding, young bush vines, with well-integrated oak and ripe yellow fruit and exotic spices. Unique.
