Sugrue Pierre, The Trouble with Dreams Brut 2011
From a small 1ha vineyard at Storrington Priory at the foot of the South Downs, some on chalk and some on sandy greensand, this wine is a great example of a classic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blend.
It has a backbone of acidity along with ripe Pinot fruit and a palate-pleasing level of dosage, helping to hit all the right spots. Ace winemaker Dermot Sugrue has certainly come up trumps with this wine from his own personal label, and produced a wine that while drinking well now, has the power to last for a lot longer.
