Smoky, floral, very exotic and intense. Intense, dry, smoky palate, very tight and concentrated. Great length and intensity in the finish. A little oaky?

Attractive nose – multi dimensional with animal, vegetable and mineral notes. Big red, but feels balanced, slightly soy like with gripping tannins and good acidity. Powerful concentrated stuff, needs time – rather big and brutish. A Riserva, perhaps southern? Big wine, dont love it, too bolshy but appreciate quality.

Tasting: Chianti Classico Riserva

Medium ruby, redolent of new oak, some complex fragrant notes besides, this wine exhibits broad commercial appeal with a hefty dose of alcohol (touching 15%) and soft acidity. The tannins are what’s lacking and this, combined with the obvious fruit, makes for a hefty, blockbuster style. The finsih is convincing but it remains a steroidal example of Chianti Classico.
