Domaine des Comtes Lafon

Michael Schuster

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010

Soft, rich ripe fruit to smell. Rich, generous, fleshy wine with an abundance of sweetly ripe flavour behind a firm tannin, long and generous, complex and complete. A full bodied, dense, long term Volnay of great scope, with splendid length, but needing a great deal of time

Steven Spurrier

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010

Very good dense red with purple rim. Deeply concentrated black summer fruits, huge depth of concentration in the best sense – just purity of fruit. This is rich, almost luscious for the vintage, with great fruit and the same marvellous purity and depth that there is on the nose. This is a great wine, more supple and rich than expected from Volnay, but a great, spicy Volnay all the same.

Sebastian Thomas

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010

Lots of strawberry and cassis fruit on the nose, with good amounts of oak. And this carries through onto the palate, where there is generous fruit intensity. Medium tannins and a long, woody finish.
