Les Champans

  • Grape Variety: Pinot Noir
  • Drink: 2014 - 2028+

Michael Schuster

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010

Dark ruby red; gently sweet nose to smell; ripe fruit very much gripped by its new oak tannin; fine fruit dominated by its new wood tannin – not sure this will ever harmonise! Good-ish, but will need plenty of time.

Steven Spurrier

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010

Good deep young red with violet rim. Very good concentration of red summer fruits on the nose, both fleshy and precise on the palate, and showing great vigour and vibrant fruit that will evolve well over more than a decade.

Sebastian Thomas

Tasting: Volnay 1er Cru 2010

Hint of volatility on nose, some scented red fruit. Decent depth of fruit on palate, with medium fine tannins and good balance. Fruit could be a tad more generous, acidity very vibrant – perhaps a bit too much so – but it drives the fruit through to a long finish.
