Sarah Jane Evans MW gives her tasting notes and drinking window for Contino.
The first Rioja winery to make a single-vineyard wine, it is set in a bend in the river Ebro, with an ancient olive tree, hence the cuvée name. It is 88% Tempranillo and 12% Graciano (of which Contino has a fine old collection), aged 36 months in French, US and Hungarian oak. Superb aromas of redcurrant, vanilla, cassis; supple and rich, with typical elegant oak and spice.
