Rustenberg, Straw Wine, Coastal Region, South Africa 2011
This is a blend of Chenin Blanc, Viognier and Crouchen, the grapes dried in a passito style before being pressed. Complex, concentrated flavours of orange peel, honey and preserved lemons are delivered on the textured but fresh palate – sublime.
Taster Christelle Guibert
Called so because the grapes that comprise this exotic wine (Chenin Blanc, Viognier and Crouchen) are dried on straw mats before fermentation. The nose has bright peach and pear notes, with an undertone of marmalade, while the palate also has an orange peel facet along with sweet tropical fruits and a zesty finish.
