Oro Puro: a new name in top-class Prosecco

Looking at the gentle hills of the DOCG Valdobbiadene district, not far from Venice, it is remarkable how the sinuous lines of vineyards mark the boundary between earth and sky. This is a true terroir, sheltered by the Dolomites to the north and protected by the mild climate of the Adriatic sea to the south. When the sun shines at harvest time the vineyards shimmer like gold, with brilliant purity, and the region yields up its precious cargo of grapes. The great winemaking traditions of the area do the rest.

This is the home of Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, the sparkling wine whose distinctive aromatic qualities and fine perlage have won it admirers all over the world.

This is also where the Valdo Spumanti company is based. For 80 years Valdo has been involved in spreading the news about Prosecco in Italy and abroad in a strategy followed with dedication and passion which combines work in the vineyard, management in the cellars and the creation of a range of unique sparkling wines.

Two wines stand out: Marca Oro is Valdo’s traditional brand, as poular as ever, and Oro Puro is the new Prosecco Superiore DOCG, which affirms its high quality with a careful selection of grapes to be used at harvest time chosen exclusively by hand.

This is a wine for special occasions or to be used as a gift. “The name itself is bestowed in homage to our territory, where we have ever closer ties,” explains Paolo Olivieri, Export Manager of Valdo Spumanti.

Oro Puro is made from grapes picked in the best sites of the Valdobbiadene DOCG area. Straw yellow in colour with golden reflections, its crystalline character benefits from a fine and long lasting perlage. The bouquet has pronounced aromas of fruit, apples and pears, and flowers, with a finish containing tropical fruit, bananas and pineapple. The palate is delicate and balanced with excellent length of both aromas and taste. With the sinuous lines of its dark, satin-finish bottle and an elegant label, Oro Puro is the ideal product for special occasions, to be served at 6-7°C in fine glassware. At its best with fish-based dishes, this is a real jewel of the Valdobbiadene territory.

Attention to quality and love for the territory are rewarded by awards both in Italy and abroad. Valdo Spumanti continued its expansion in 2011, performing better and better on export markets.
