Made by Piper Heidsieck for Co-op, the 2013 vintage of the 'Les Pionniers' Champagne has a leesy nose of creamy pears and citrus. Plenty of honeyed brioche character on the palate, with crisp citrus zest and buttery red apple notes from 60% of Pinot Noir. A touch of residual sugar provides a rounder mouthfeel. A solid choice for the festive season at an affordable price.
