Planeta, Fiano Menfi, Cometa, Sicily, Italy, 2014

Possibly the best vintage of this Sicilian white that I have ever tasted. A 100% Fiano grown in Western Sicily near Argento from two separate limestone-clay based vineyards. The wine is entirely fermented in stainless steel tanks and kept on its lees. The result is an intense rush of quince, fennel, ripe peach, and sweet nectarines. Lovely mouthfeel, fresh acidic tension and terrific savoury length. A very exciting, stylish and convincing wine.
