Vasse Felix, Cabernet-Merlot, Margaret River, Western Australia 2008 Young, fresh and packed with flavour, this is an immediately rewarding wine. It shows some chocolatey tones, but the appeal is all about the deliciously concentrated plums, blueberries and blackberries, finely partnered by a delightful, leafy edge. Martin Codax, Mara Martin, Godello, Monterrei, Spain 2008 Monterrei is a Galician DO that nudges up against the Portuguese border. This Godello is an intense, mouthwatering wine that would be a great food match. Vital and uplifting, it's run through with lovely minerality, complemented by tasty green fruit, apples and a hint of stone fruit on the finish.
