RED WINE of the week
Casillero del Diablo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Valley, Chile 2008 The Cabernet Sauvignon is arguably the strongest of Devil Celler's line-up, and this, the latest release, shows why. Layers of mocha, cassis and menthol are bolstered by judicious tannins and lovely freshness. One that over-delivers for the price. (15.5 points) £6.99 Asda supermarkets (0113 243 5435), Morrisons stores (01924 870000), Oddbins branches (0800 917 4093), Sainsbury's supermarkets (020 7695 6000), Tesco supermarkets (01992 632222), Thresher branches (01707 387200), Waitrose supermarkets (0800 188 884)
WHITE WINE of the week
Domaine Bailly, Sancerre, Loire, France 2008 Classic stuff that will certainly serve the needs of any Sancerre stalwarts. Reflects its terroir, with driven minerality, intense but elegant, herb-sprinkled, lean, green fruit and brisk, perky acidity. Mouthwatering and tangy. (16 points) £10.99 Marks & Spencer stores (020 7935 4422)
