John Salvi MW

Decanter Contributor & Bordeaux Expert

John Salvi MW is a wine journalist based in France. He became a Master of Wine in 1970 and remembers ‘drinking so much sherry (Williams and Humbert Dos Cortados) during the exam in 1970 that there was not enough for the other examinees to taste’. He retired in 1997 after 40 years in the wine trade, but he has continued to contribute to Decanter and he still writes the detailed Bordeaux Weather Report from his home in the Médoc.
