Claimed to be the world’s southernmost at 45.33° south, this vineyard is situated on the shores of lake Musters in the south of Chubut province. In the extreme weather conditions here, the severe winds and cold, dry climate make viticulture challenging, but are ideal for organic grape-growing. This 100% Merlot is from a small 1ha block, with the wine fermented in concrete tanks using spontaneous fermentation and aged for 24 months in untoasted French oak foudres. Dror Nativ MW: A poised, red-fruited style, showcasing damson and red cherry, supported by fine tannins. A long, refined finish. Ben Gubbins: Clean, defined fruit on the nose. Palate has juicy, ripe fruit with a refreshing sour edge. Fruit lingers on the finish. An expressive, delightful wine. Andy Howard MW: Elegant, racy and refined. Love the purity and drive on the palate. Grippy finish, subtle oak. No hurry to drink this.
