On the nose, this wine gives rich dark plum, ground peppercorns and a whiff of the smoky herbaceousness of black tea leaves. On the palate, expect more dark fruit flavours of blackcurrants and plums with warming mocha notes balanced out by savoury, earthy undertones. The tannins are firm and the wine has a weight to it, but there’s enough acidity to save it from feeling overly heavy.
