Varietal bay leaf and cedar-edged blackcurrant to the nose and palate. Though quite bold on the attack, this bottle seems less poised, older even, than the 1992, with stewed green leaves, savoury biscuit oak and spirituous warmth to the finish, which tails with air. Although winter rains replenished water reserves, the weather was hot in February and most of March. Fruit is sourced from the original Nuriootpa 1940s block.
