Hancock & Hancock, Tempranillo, McLaren Vale, South Australia 2021

Spain's Tempranillo grape finds a new home in Australia's McLaren Vale, producing this dangerously drinkable red. Fragrant purple and red fruits on the nose – especially black cherry and plum – with spiciness too. With 12 months in used French oak, the smooth palate has fine, silky tannins with deep blackberry and blueberry fruit that lingers satisfyingly on the palate. Wears its 14% alcohol very lightly too.
