There’s an elegant pretty nose, with roses amongst red berries and a sprinkling of blackberries, yet it surprisingly leads to a solid dark-fruited brooder. There’s power and drive through a long, serious mid-palate that firmly clicks its heels to mark a severe tannin-driven conclusion. Striking in stature, proud and confident, it’s an unyielding old colonel, standing rigid at attention, and quite prepared to spend a decade in the cellar.
