From a 1947 Blewitt Springs vineyard on deep grey sands over ironstone, with shale and red clays. Fuller-bodied, meaty, with fresh dug earth, blackberry and cherry, musky sandalwood, orange peel and dried herbs. Finishes long and tapering, with sandpapery tannins, crushed rocks and bloody iron. Following fermentation (20% whole bunch) and extended skin contact (four weeks), aged eight months in concrete egg and seasoned French oak puncheons. Great value.
