Another telling drought year, resulting in a plump-fruited, rich wine with a waft of wild fennel lingering over juicy plum. Richness in the back palate speaks of the site's terroir. Its gnarly, dry-grown bush vines planted in 1946 are not on the district’s famed deep sands, but rather on a windswept ridge strewn with ironstone. It provides muscle that is clearly evident in a seam of grippy, black bass notes.
