Deep and dark with a primary ruby hue, this Shiraz from the red soils of Marananga in the Barossa Valley combines sweetly smoky and spicy aromas with seductive dark berry notes, reflecting the combination of its 12-month sojourn in partially new French and American oak. 

On the palate it becomes a full-flavoured, concentrated blackberryish red whose powerfully full-bodied, chocolatey richness and silkiness of texture is marked by a vivid streak of acidity which runs through the wine from start to finish. This ensures balance and youthful vigour, aided and abetted as it is by a deceptive firmness of structure for good ageing potential. Lamb cutlets or duck breast, slightly pink, would do it proud.
